Halloween Makeup To Creep You Out
In case you don’t live in Southern California, every year it is the goal of Knott’s Scary Farm Haunt to scare the pants off you! Like, literally. And if you have been and survived, then you know how freaky and realistic the monsters are, thanks to the talented makeup artists like Denise. She’s personally been a part of Knott’s Halloween Haunt for 24 years. She started as talent (Fortune Telling ) in her first years, then moved on as Talent Captain for mazes and was a street monster in Ghost Town for 8 years. If anyone knows scary, it’s her!
Colored Contacts. This is what I look like with Fairy Princess Eyes, courtesy of EyesBright in the UK. Changing your eye color like you change your lipstick isn’t exactly a thing yet, but it probably will be. The first thing I wondered when I put these contacts in was “do I need more makeup?” but I wanted to compare them to my everyday look, so that’s what you get here. The effect is pretty cool, though it’s more of a night look for full color changes, since the colored part of the lenses have to be opaque (and my pupils aren’t all that dilated during the day).
How much can makeup really transform you? That was the question we posed a few weeks ago when we saw Russian hair and makeup artist Vadim Andreev do some ridiculously amazing things to some ordinary women. In light of the fact that Halloween is now just around the corner, let’s turn our attention to both makeup artists as well as regular folks who have used their “magic” to change into spooky and stunning beings. These talented people didn’t hold back, as they busted out the “big guns” to make us squirm in terror.

Halloween Makeup
The other day someone asked me what she could be for Halloween that wasn’t slutty. “I have a party to go to, and kids will be there,” she said. “But every costume I see is slutty I even saw a slutty pizza costume!” I told her to wait for this post. The Smurfette makeup look provides maximum impact and not nearly as much effort as you’d think. It’s also about as far from slutty as you can get. Our very own Lindy Segal was game enough to be our oh-so-blue model. Here’s how to copy it.
Designing Halloween makeup looks for friends and family is one of my favorite things to do,” says Baker, who has taken home Oscars for designing the looks of the creatures in seven films, including “An American Werewolf in London,” “Harry and the Hendersons,” “Men In Black,” “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “The Wolfman.” He’s long wanted to design his own makeup kit for Halloween after seeing what’s sold in stores during the season. “Most of the stuff you buy features a design on the package that’s impossible to re-create,” he says. “Even Rick Baker can’t do that makeup with that product.”
MAC Cosmetics gave Baker the chance to give consumers something better this year, by creating a collection that can be used to reproduce three looks – a zombie, the Bride of Frankenstein and a spider queen from the Day of the Dead (see the designs and Baker apply the makeup below). The products include powders, eye liners and pencils, chromacakes, paintsticks and acrylic paints. Pricing varies from $15 to $44 per item. The collection is available through the end of the month at MAC stores. Baker had initially hoped to produce an elaborate kit with a how-to-DVD showing the step-by-step application process, and products MAC hadn’t offered before.

Every Day Is Halloween For Makeup
Remove face paint according to the manufacturer’s instructions on the package. Otherwise use a good makeup remover for the face and an eye makeup remover for around the eyes. These products are formulated to dissolve makeup ingredients. Removers that work for waterproof or long-lasting products would be good choices. Using an actual remover made for this purpose will also prevent you from having to rub too hard to remove the makeup and further irritate the skin. Thoroughly cleanse the skin to make sure all traces of makeup are removed to avoid clogging the pores and causing breakouts.
For white swan make-up, you will need stick-on gems and glitter. You can find these at Michael’s. I began by completely covering the eyelid in silver shadow. I used white eye shadow to highlight the brow bone, inner corners of the eye and under the bottom lashes. I used a dark gray on the arch of the eye and black on the outer corners to create a smoky eye. Next, add eyeliner and the fake lashes. With the gems, I used the smallest size to line the top of the eye, on top of the eyeliner. I then used the largest gems all around the eye.
The other look which I called bloody, creepy doll was developed out of the one before. So the basis of this is the same as what I explained in the text above. The pale/white skin, black eyes and hollow cheeks stay the same. Now here’s what I changed about it. First of course I made my lips a little bit darker by adding the lipcream mixed with black eyeshadow. Then I drew blood running down my cheeks symbolizing tears made out of blood, also with the red lipcream which I also put onto my lashes. That’s it, to be honest. It’s not that difficult, is it?

Costume Malfunctions and Other Stuff
If something happens to your costume, tell the costume team immediately. Things happen. Zippers break, hems fall, buttons come off. Tell your costume team right away (ideally during intermission or right after the show) so they’re able to fix it in time for the next show. Don’t wait until the last minute to say something; you are not likely to get much sympathy five minutes before the curtain rises! As well, keep your costume pieces together and always make sure everything is accounted for before you leave each day, from your ballgown right down to your sparkly shoes.
Related to costume, makeup is the application of cosmetics to the face and body. A key function of makeup is to help the performer personify and embody the character he or she is playing. Makeup used to be more popular in the theater than it is today. In a modern small theater, performers playing realistic will simply go without makeup of any consequences. Use of makeup is often essential because the age of a character differs from that of the performer. Suppose that 20 years old performer is playing the part of a 60-year-old character. Through the use of makeup, the appropriate age can be suggested.
Theiss explored in her previous works the theme of flying employing in her designs butterflies motifs, but this time she had to apply her skills and knowledge to pieces that had to evoke concepts such as fear, hope and freedom rather than literally represent them. Turning to a dark palette comprising black, grey and dove with some plum added in, the designer employed a series of different techniques to help Donlon’s telling her story. In one costume Theiss for example added a simple woollen strip that tied the dancer’s wrists, and that perfectly hinted at the constraints and pressures that chain and trap us in our lives.

Celeb’s Valentine’s Day Outfits
Every time Valentine’s Day rolls around, we can’t wait to see what our favorite celebs will wear on their big night out. Will they go for something comfy and cute or sultry and smoldering? Will they be on-theme with a red and white ensemble or will they opt for a killer LBD? Well, friends, our burning questions have finally been answered—last night we peeped Rihanna , Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry out and about, and we are seriously smitten with their V Day ensembles. RiRi headed out to a nightclub in Hollywood wearing a bright orange wrap dress with a black fur coat and metallic gold snakeskin sandals.
Whether Valentine’s Day falls on a school day or the weekend, a great (and delicious!) way to start the day with your smallest Valentines is with a special breakfast Kids feel extra special when they are being served something just for them. Decorate the kitchen table the night before (after they go to bed) with decorative plates, napkins, cups and decorations, and then plan a menu that everyone will love. You can dye the waffle batter pink with food coloring or berry juice and top them with whipped cream and strawberries — or put a Valentine twist on whatever your family’s favorite breakfast may be. Bows, ruffles and hearts galore

Anna Karenina, the Movie and the Costumes
Because I didn’t want to read the book when I was in high school, I decided to wait until it came out at my movie theatre. I waited and I waited and finally 60 years later (that’s a very small lie…I exaggerated my age), it (Anna Karenina) was made into a movie. For me, half a film is the costuming, and this costuming looks spectacular. The other half is the acting and the story line, but I can’t comment on those until I actually see the movie. I’m not sure it was worth the prolonged wait, but still, I can’t pass the opportunity by to see the movie.
you can take a look at the new poster, below…

Are Superheroes Vunerable to Heat?
When I was in the manufacturing business, we specialized in cartoon character costumes. One of our main concerns then, was the possibility of the person wearing such a constricted suit to be able to breathe and not to pass out from heat exhasustion or heat stroke. We vented the costumes well, and suggested the wearer also have ice packks in and around his/her body so as to reduce the risk of faint or worse. This article reminds me of the engineering that was involved in costuming so as to prevent the very thing that these actors/superheroes were facing. Though I never heard of a fatality in one of our costumes, I heard there were many, many pounds loss due to persperation, even with the safeguards.
Playing a superhero is hard work – and potentially deadly. Andrew Garfield nearly suffocated on the set of “The Amazing Spider-Man” after he discovered his spandex suit wasn’t waterproof.
The actor plays Peter Parker, who embraces his incredible destiny after uncovering one of his father’s most carefully guarded secrets. Garfield nearly passed out while shooting an action sequence because he failed to learn proper breathing techniques required for the scene.…More at Batman & Spider-Man Stars Had Trouble Breathing In Their Iconic Costumes
How did Superman last all these years? Faster than a speeding bullet, able to leap tall buidings with a single bound and was immune to heat. For more information about costumes, visit us at http://www.costumescostumescostumes.net

Super HeroesWe rarely publish anything about super heroes (and of course, all the cool costumes these guys wear), but today we are. Sorry, maybe it’s because of my age, but I don’t recognize all there heros. There was Superman and Batman when I was a young lad, then a scattering of others came on the scene. now it’s a plethora of heros. How can we not combat crime with so many of these guys out there. I think the crime rate in our city had decreased ten fold over the years.

Fourth of July Costumes
You may or not be planning on wearing a costumes for your local Fourth of July parade, but this article features a couple of costumes that look pretty good. There are only so so many directions one might take for a costume that relates to the Fourth, but you might also consider “the Spirit of 76” which actually shows three people in the painting, a fifer, and two drummers and possibly a flagbearer to be in the rear.
