It’s Cinderella Day

It’s Cinderella day.

As you may have noticed, in the last few years, famous movie costumes have become a popular outfit for little ones to wear in society. The most appreciated fairytale costumes are those inspired from the famous stories which have made the winter nights warmer and have fascinated many generations of little girls: Snow White costumes, Cinderella costumes, The Sleeping Beauty costumes as well as many princess costumes.

As a result, getting through your child’s trick or treating years without Beauty and the Beast costumes is unlikely, therefore you might as well make the entire thing a special event and view the movie once again.

Given the success of this movie, along with all the merchandising and toys that were created as companion advertising pieces, it stands to reason that this movie might just inspire one of the more popular Disney Halloween costumes this year.

Additionally, every year Disney also re-releases many time honored favorites and classics that also get the kids – and many adults – excited about the multitude of possibilities for the Halloween season.  This year, today, is one of those days.  Cinderella.

Options of what to be. Alice in wonderland, a lady captain America, Disney Cinderella, Disney queen are all available costumes ladies could choose from.

Since Belle could win any knowledge bowl, you could play a trivia game about the United States or for younger kids you could ask simple questions about the movie Beauty and the Beast and the person who gets the most questions right gets a princess prize.

Costume Designer Sandy Powell was recently quoted that the film is quite the departure from her recent work with Martin Scorsese on ‘mans-man films’ and the new Cinderella adaptation is her own chance to present a look for a ‘girls-girl film’.

It is amazing what this make believe time can do for little minds as they grow and indeed a sad day when they no longer think it important and that Cinderella dress floats to the floor to be found years later tucked away and forgotten.

No children’s party is truly complete with kids dressed up in costumes of at least some Disney characters, as the opportunity to dress up like some of their favorite comic book and animation characters is simply irresistible for kids.

Trying to decide what the best all time Disney movie is not an easy task to do, but trying to determine what the top five Disney princess movies are is even harder. And when they are ready to attend a princess function, such as “Disney on Ice”, or play dress up at home or go trick or treating for Halloween, there are dozens of Disney costumes for Princesses for every age.  Cinderella was a princess?  Right?  So there are costumes for Cinderella?  Right?

If the witch who tempts the Snow White princess on the movie makes your child squirm, then you should anticipate your children burrowing into your arms during some of the “scarier” parts of the show.

Powell has managed to design costumes that truly bring the animated movies we’ve been obsessed with since choldhood to life, but thanks to basic earth science, the glass slippers at the center of the story are the one thing that were not created to be worn and danced in like the fairy tale.
